The Computer Programming & Web Development student-centered curriculum is enhanced by the physical design and technology-rich content of our classroom. Students move around this space as they collaborate, plan, imagine, problem-solve, manage, lead, participate, discuss, debate, and ponder with each other, the instructors, and clients.
The base curriculum encompasses web programming in HTML & CSS with Notepad++, XML, & JavaScript, along with programming in Alice 3, Python, Java, and possibly C#, writing, and Microsoft Office tools including MS Project. Students have Parallax Scribbler robots, Parrot AR Drones, a NAO robot, and several smaller robots and live client web sites to help expand their skills and knowledge.
Students in CPWD run a Tech Support line for senior citizens. Learn more here.
Design and Visual Communications (DVC) is an exciting, fast paced, creative, and ever evolving program. Curriculum is designed to expose students to vast career opportunities that exist in the creative, multimedia, and communications industry.
Students receive training across various media, including print, video, web/interactive, and photography. Students learn how to problem solve, experiment, and explore to create visual solutions using the Adobe® Creative Cloud collection of applications. Students also practice valuable employment skills, create resumes, interact with clients, and complete real-world projects for businesses and organizations in the Assabet Valley RTHS school district.
